Zilverstand used to be very popular with gays, because of the cruising facilities. After reconstruction of the motorway A6 this official naturist beach was completely renewed. As advised by the Dutch naturist federation (NFN) the beach is now much more open. The main reason was to discourage sexual activities. There is still some cruising going on in the area north-west of the beach. Compared to other naturist beaches, Zilverstrand is quite popular among gays.

I like this beach because the water is very good to swim. It's close to Amsterdam and parking is free. When the coastal beaches are too cold, Zilverstand is a good option. The greatest disadvantage of this beach is the proximity of a busy motorway.
